Programme Overview

The Master in International Politics and Security addresses critical global security challenges, including armed conflict, terrorism, climate change, and transnational migration. This interdisciplinary programme provides students with a deep understanding of how both public and private actors tackle these issues and equips them with the skills to analyse and resolve contemporary conflicts on a local and global scale.

Security has become a central concern for governments and citizens alike, dominating headlines and political discourse. This master’s programme critically examines whether our world is indeed more dangerous and uncertain than before. Positioned at the crossroads of international relations, security and defence studies, political theory, sociology, and history, the course offers a comprehensive exploration of how security is evolving in a rapidly changing and interconnected world.

Students will analyse the roles of various actors—beyond just state entities—in defining and addressing security challenges that transcend national borders. From transnational armed conflict and cyber security to environmental threats, the programme equips students with the critical tools to understand and address the socio-political mechanisms driving these issues and the uncertainties they create.
